Leadership

MADSIF is owned and operated by Michigan-based auto dealers from across the state. The 13-member board and six-member executive committee represent more than 29 dealerships, which includes approximately 50 franchises, throughout Michigan, bringing with them the vital dealer perspective and real-world business knowledge that makes MADSIF the insurance dealers keep.

  • Kevin Vanatta, Chairperson

    Owner, Newberry Motors

    Kevin Vanatta became the owner of Newberry Motors in 1992. He brings to the MADSIF Board his perspective of running a dealership in a small town where “trust isn’t everything, it’s the only thing!” In addition to the daily management of Newberry Motors he serves as president of the local Kiwanis Club,  he formerly served as president of the Newberry Chamber of Commerce, as school board president, and participates in other important civic-minded organizations. Kevin learned the service side of the automotive business through his grandfather and father and has brought that perspective to serving his fellow dealers.

  • Colleen McDonald, Vice-Chairperson

    President, Livonia Chrysler Jeep

    Colleen is a second-generation auto dealer starting in the business at age 16.  Colleen has served on many boards including past president of the Detroit Chevrolet Dealers Association, Southeastern Michigan Dodge Dealers Assn, Metro Jobbers, and many advertising boards. She is also involved in her community as the Chairperson of Northville Community Foundation.

     

  • James Demmer, Secretary-Treasurer

    Vice President, Jack Demmer Automotive Group

    Jim Demmer is a second-generation Ford Dealer with a life-long experience in the business, having joined his father Jack Demmer and brother Bill in the business in 1975. Jim is a graduate of Northwood University and has learned the business from the ground up by working hands-on in every department. Along with his Dealership management duties, Jim has volunteered for a wide range of community organizations. He served on the Canton Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors and was later recognized as their 2015 Business Person of the Year. Jim is a former Board Chair of the Canton Community Foundation and continues to serve as a Director Emeritus for that organization. Currently, Jim serves on the City Of Wayne Downtown Development Authority Board. As a Dealer working for his fellow MADSIF Dealers, Jim brings his years of experience to his role on the MADSIF Board of Directors.

  • Ron Hodges

    Owner, Team Hodges, Inc.

    Ron Hodges is a second-generation auto dealer.  In 1970 he started working with his father Ben Hodges, cleaning cars, plowing snow, and all that was needed to be done.  After college Ron managed the parts department, followed by managing the body shop and eventually the service department before moving into sales.  Ron was instrumental in obtaining the Chrysler, Dodge, Jeep, and Ram franchise in the early 1980’s adding to the family’s Chevrolet and Oldsmobile franchises.  He has been the dealer principal at Team Hodges since 1993.  Ron’s well-rounded experience in the automotive business makes him a valuable member of the MADSIF board.  He is a dealer, working for dealers!

  • James Tellier, Ex Officio

    President, Jefferson Chevrolet Co., Trader Ray Tire Center and Leasing

    James Tellier began his career at Jefferson Chevrolet in 1970. Tellier has given generously of his time and talents to industry organizations, including serving as President and other roles at the Greater Detroit Chevrolet Dealers Association; as director and vice president of the Metropolitan Detroit Chevrolet Dealers Advertising Association; and as director, secretary, treasurer, and vice president of the Detroit Auto Dealers Association.

  • Jennifer Monkiewicz, Fund Administrator

    In addition to serving as the fund administrator for MADSIF, Jennifer is the assistant secretary and treasurer of Auto Dealers Insurance Company, the captive reinsurance company owned by MADSIF. Jennifer has worked with self-insured group fund administration and third-party claims and loss control administration for over 20 years, serving many different industries, including the dealer community.  Jennifer has served on several Boards of Directors and has reported to Boards of Trustees in various capacities.  Jennifer launched NEXTComp Fund Administrators, which is exclusively contracted by MADSIF.  She is also a member of the Michigan Council of Self-Insured Group Administrators.
