News bite: OSHA Updates Injury Reporting Requirements
Going into effect on January 1, OSHA is rolling out new rules for reporting any work-related injury or fatality. The new rules will mandate that any work-related inpatient hospitalization, amputation, or loss of eye must be documented and reported to OSHA. It’s a significant shift from the old rule, which only required that employers report any fatality or inpatient hospitalization of three or more employees.
Once enforced, employers will be required to report work-related injuries within 24 hours and fatalities within 8 hours. Read more about the updated rules here.
